Sodium Formate Is The Simplest Organic Carboxylate. Which Is White Crystalor Powder With A Slight Odor Of Formic Acid. Slightly Deliquescent Andhygroscopic. It Is Easily Soluble In About 1.3 Parts Of Water And Glycerinslightly Soluble In Ethanol And Octanol And Insoluble In Ether. Itsaqueous Solution Is Alkaline. When Heated, Sodium Formate Is Decomposedinto Hydrogen And Sodium Oxalate. And Then Sodium Carbonate Is Formed.
